Kynd Outdoors connects users based on specific destinations. When a user joins Kynd Outdoors, they are asked to visit the "My Kynd Outdoors" section of the site where they attach destinations to their profile based on sport/activity. When one of the destinations they have attached to their profile gets updated, they are notified and vice versa.
In addition to the content that is provided by business owners, bloggers, and authors, the Kynd Outdoors user community contributes to the site with comments, ratings, reviews, pictures, etc. This means that destination pages get data input from numerous sources and that data is digested and discussed by the outdoor community. The idea is that everyone is writing the outdoor guidebook together, on the KyndOutdoors.com website, on the Kynd phone apps, and on the Kynd mobile apps.
Kynd connects businesses with potential customers
Business owners add their business details on Kynd Outdoors. Key data such as location (city, state), lat/long, and the destinations the business spends the most time servicing are saved to the Kynd Outdoors database. Anytime a user indicates that they plan on visiting a certain destination that matches one of the business' destinations, the business is notified. In addition, the business gets a pinpoint on all relevant Google Maps that are displayed on the Kynd site (state maps, destination maps). Example below.
Kynd connects bloggers with new readers
Let's say a site user is on the Au Sable destination details page. She notices there are several blog posts by a blogger that used Kynd's blog widget. She enjoys what she is reading in the blog posts. She is planning an outdoors trip to the Kalamazoo River and notices that the blogger has a few posts about that Kynd destination as well, so she decides to visit the blogger's page and follow all the posts. Everyone is benefitting. Example below.
The Kynd Outdoors staff has received many requests to allow .gpx files in the trip report form. So we added it!
Kynd Outdoors parses the .gpx files from handhelds including... all Garmin nüvi, eTrex, Colorado, Dakota, GPSMAP,
Edge, Montana, Oregon, and Rino models, Magellan eXplorist, Meridian, SporTrak GPS receivers, Lowrance iFinder,
Endura, HDS, LCX, and LMS GPS chartplotters and fishfinders.
The translation technology we wrote is pretty cool so give it a shot. We create a custom polyline and waypoints plotted on a Google Map.
Just translate the file from your device to the .gpx format (you can use http://www.easygps.com/)
and then upload that .gpx file in your Kynd Outdoors trip report.
A favorite among our business users. The leads service will send your businesses a notification when a potential client is identified.
Our goal with the leads service is to put relevant, valuable customers into your Kynd network!
Bloggers who add their feed to Kynd Outdoors can take advantage of our blogging tools. Kynd Outdoors takes all blog posts that have been validated and publishes them within 24 hours on the KyndOutdoors.com site. Because they are published here, that means they are instantly published on Facebook and Twitter. In addition, they will show up in Google's search results and will have a direct link back to the original blog homepage. Kynd Outdoors also offers bloggers the ability to attach a specific destination to any post with our blog tagging widget.
Kynd members are able to draw their trip course using our nifty Google Maps drawing tool. In addition, kynd members armed with .gpx files can simply upload them to the Kynd site and the .gpx will be translatted onto a Google Map canvas. Click on the activity icon in the header and then click the Maps tab to get started.
Any activity that a member posts about a Kynd destination will get posted on our Facebooka app. In addition, if a member chooses to integrate their facebook account with Kynd Outdoors, then the posts they make will be visible on their facebook profile as well.
The YouTube service sniffs out a Kynd member's specific tag and brings the videos into the site. That means a Kynd member can add a tag to their YouTube video(s) and when the service finds it, it will pull it into the site and post it within 48 hours.
The Kynd widgets allow members to publish their Kynd content anywhere on the Internet. Currently Kynd offers the following widgets: Reports, Pictures, News, Blogs. If a member posts any content in one of those categories it will show up on their remote widget. Awesome. Whenever a widget is published (code gets copied/pasted) on someone's site or blog, Kynd content is published to that widget in real time.
The PDF service allows users to print out or send PDF documents for specific Kynd destinations. This allows people to take the content (most of it) they find on the destination details page and either share it with someone as an attachment or print it and take it with them to the destination.
The Kynd Twitter posting feed takes certain content each day and publishes it to Twitter. The feed (.xml format) is also available by clicking on the title of the day's post from twitter's site. http://www.twitter.com/id3ma
Condition reports (traditional)
Anytime you add a report to the Kynd Outdoors site we'll let people in your kynd network know. Also, Kynd members who follow the destination you added a report for, will see you added a new report. If those folks aren't in your network then... they are potential customers!
We strongly encourage businesses to add reports. Here's why.
Condition reports (report grabber)
The Kynd report grabber takes all report content from a business owner's website, and automatically pulls it into the Kynd site.
All the business owner has to do is wrap the report they post on their own site in our custom html tags, and we do the rest! Learn more.
Any valid businesses that lists their details on the site gets a free listing on the Kynd Business Directory. Similar to Blacks, but free, this list is an excellent resource and you should get your business on it now.
On the details page for a business, Kynd Outdoors posts an option for the user to contact or make a reservation with the business. This service will put the business in touch with prospective clients who want to travel to the businesses vicinity.
The listing service puts valid businesses on the destination details page for all destinations the business indicates that they focus on. That means that outdoor enthusiasts looking for information on a specific destination will see the business name listed if the business services it.
If a user chooses, he or she can get updates anytime one of the destinations attached to their profile gets an update. The notifications can be turned on and off at any time.
