The afternoons have been good on dry flies on the lower McKenzie. Hendricks Bridge to Hayden Bridge is a great float. Today our 6 boats landed 3 steelhead along with many native and hatchery trout. There is a strong population of wild redband rainbows, wild cutthroats, and a small population of bull trout as well. The McKenzie fly fishes well yearlong and has a catch and release requirement. Fly fishing for steelhead is productive as well and the heavy action picks up in the fall and stays good until winter.
