Great fishing on a 3 day camping trip over the weekend. nice dry fly hatches in the evening, light cahill's and bwo's, what a great trip

Water levels are very low, caught some fish on bead heads, there we're a few may flies hatching but not many takers, river is loaded with fish, be careful they are very easy to spook with water low and clear

The river fished great today, some caddis coming off, we did well with woolly buggers and bead heads.it truly is a beautiful place.

Descriptions
1. The North Fork of the South Branch offers wonderful trout fishing. There
are several access points close to Petersburg West Virginia. There is the
Smoke hole cavern section located not far from Petersburg West Virginia.
There is the section known as upper track, this area is located south of
Petersburg West Virginia. Then there is the section close to Franklin West
Virginia. Most of the fishing that I have done over the years has been
near the Upper track section. There is several miles of awesome trout
fishing and in the spring and early summer the State od West Virginia Game
Commission stocks it every week. There is a very nice fly fishing only
section located here at upper track, in the center of the river section.
There are brown trout, rainbow trout, golden trout, and brook trout all
through this river. It is not uncommon to catch a 7 or 8 pound rainbow in
the spring and my friends and I have also caught 4 and 5 pound browns.
There are a few motels not far away in Petersburg and there are cabin
rentals and at least two camp grounds. The water is usually very clear and
runs good. There are also bass in this part of the river also. Some of the
prettiest fishing in the State is found here as well.
