Trip reports
3 - FAIR on 04/19/2010
Winter Steelhead time is running down on the Siletz. Tough year with the weather the way it's been. Best to fish the upper reaches now.

2 - GOOD on 04/09/2010
River levels look great and now is the time to fish the Siletz. We've had a couple weeks of high water that should have brought some fish in. The river is dropping and clearing.

2 - GOOD on 04/05/2010
The river levels are dropping following the Spring Break rains we had here in Oregon. Look for it to be in great shape later in the week.

2 - GOOD on 03/10/2010
The river is still running on the low side things at a little over 4 ft. Steelhead are still spread throughout the system though.

2 - GOOD on 03/01/2010
The river is still holding steady in the 5-6 ft. range which is optimum for fishing. However, there really needs to be some high water, followed by a drop to make things great!

3 - FAIR on 02/16/2010
As with most coastal rivers, the best fishing occurs following rain and high water. The Siletz is no exception. Look for water levels on the drop as it gets below 7 ft. The river has been stable for a while now which usually keeps fish holding offshore. There are fish in the system, but they are spread out and may be off the bite.

2 - GOOD on 02/08/2010
The Siletz has been very stable for the past couple weeks. Needs some rain to encourage more fish to enter the system.

|
2 - GOOD on 02/04/2010
River level is in great shape and within the "prime" scale at 4.8 ft. Oregon Coastal Rivers are seeing record returns of both Hatchery and Native Steelhead this year.

|
2 - GOOD on 01/29/2010
The Siletz is running at the low end of the "sweet spot" at 4.7 ft. Rain will be moving in this weekend and should push the river level up again soon. Be ready for the river to start dropping again and if it falls below 7 ft., grab your rod and go fishin!

1 - EXCELLENT on 01/26/2010
The Siletz is low and clear this week which means good news for steelheaders. Oregon rivers are all seeing big numbers of winter steelhead returning. It's early yet, but the forecasts are calling for a lot of fish.

2 - GOOD on 01/10/2010
The Siletz is dropping nicely and should come into great shape this week and be very fishy until the next storm rolls in.

4 - POOR on 01/02/2010
River is running very high @ 10+ ft. This river fishes best between 4 - 7 ft. and dropping. Drifted the "town run" on 12/31/09 and did see one fish roll.

2 - GOOD on 12/26/2009
The river is dropping and in great shape right now. Hope to have a more acurate report early next week.

Descriptions
1. The Siletz, along with the Nestucca are two of the most balanced coastal
fisheries. Open year-round for steelhead, there isn't a single day in the
year you can't find a steelhead somewhere in the Siletz system. Winter
steelheading peaks in January and February while Summer steelheading prime
time is during the first rains of late Summer and early Fall. Deep holes
in excess of 20' can make fly fishing in the mid-lower river during the
Winter a challenge. Our favorite time of year for flies on this river is
August-October for awesome sea-run cutthroats, Summer steelhead and Fall
chinook. The numbers of sea-run cutts here are unrivaled anywhere on the
coast. Depending on the time of year and water conditions we'll fish from
the drift boat, raft or walk-in. Description courtesy of
