2 - GOOD on 05/01/2010
Sweet time of year, flows are up but not muddy yet. A little off color is good, we can fish heavirer leaders.
Fish softer water, bubble lines, seams. (05/01/2010 at 11:23 AM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 04/24/2010
Blue skys cause the flows to go up, and the water temp to drop.
Small windows of BWO's.
Crossing isn't an option lower in the canyon. (04/24/2010 at 09:42 AM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 04/15/2010
Bigger water now, slightly green.
The lower in the canyon you go, the less likely you can cross.
(04/15/2010 at 01:22 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 04/08/2010
Spring warmth is coming up the canyon.
Your best fish of the year could show up on the next drift. (04/08/2010 at 01:03 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 03/22/2010
Things are picking up.
Skwallas are out mid canyon.
Find a riser, make it happen.
Blind fishing with a bobber is still a little slow, try the soft water on the edges of the shore. (03/22/2010 at 01:35 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 03/04/2010
Gotta say it is getting better.
Many bugs in the siene, fish moving around.
Water is a bit off color, but that is to our advantage. Overcast cond. are fishing best, bright sun is tougher. (03/04/2010 at 09:49 AM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 02/27/2010
Overcast days seem best.
Have met a few leader breaking fish.
Very feisty. (02/27/2010 at 11:58 AM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 02/14/2010
Bright sun, clear water, spooky fish.
Think small, no bling. Very fast takes!
Very fast rejections too! (02/14/2010 at 11:09 AM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 02/11/2010
Timing is the challenge, smallish mid-day window. Fish are eating other times , but mid-day is best. (02/11/2010 at 10:05 AM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 02/05/2010
Little winter stones showed yesterday.
You can fish them dry in the
mid-morning, or sub surface till mid-afternoon. (02/05/2010 at 11:05 AM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 01/28/2010
There is fun to be had, if you have the game, and a jacket.. Rainbows are the norm, no browns at all, in weeks.
Couldn't be much more beautiful. (01/28/2010 at 12:11 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 01/22/2010
Seriously winter. @+ ft. of snow. Bring snow shoes.
Sunny today, surface bite at noon.
Midges sz22 otherwise emergers under an indicator. (01/22/2010 at 01:17 PM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 01/20/2010
Late last week was beautiful and very fishy. Just before this storm arrived, the door seemed to slam shut. Close to two feet of fresh snow dumped, with more on the way. Access is the big concern. (01/20/2010 at 10:46 AM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 01/13/2010
Water flows are up a little, and slightly off color.
Advantage fishermen, you can fish closer and with a heavier leader. (01/13/2010 at 12:53 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 01/11/2010
If the sun comes out I see fewer rises, and the fish are even spookier.
sz 18 BWO's appear with the overcast.
Remember you really stand out against the snowy background, stay low and work farther away. (01/11/2010 at 12:53 PM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 01/04/2010
MIDGES! It is a love hate relationship.
But that is what fish are chowing on right now. #20 dry dark body, light hackle. 6x leader, and look for a rising fish.
Some BWO's #18 if skies are overcast. (01/04/2010 at 11:44 AM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 12/31/2009
The fish are not in a frenzy, but they still eat. Be patient, be thorough, and bring anti-freeze paste or Pam.
A nice Trico 24-26 hatch is happening on the upper river. Sippers under ice shelving on stream edges. (12/31/2009 at 01:45 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 12/28/2009
It is winter! Beautiful water and few people clammering for a spot.
Bugs are small, water is very clear, so be sneaky and make multiple drifts.
Hit'em on the nose for best results.
(12/28/2009 at 02:07 PM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 12/15/2009
They are there, just takes a little more work. Flows coming up slowly.
1-2 ft of snow, with access the challenge. (12/15/2009 at 10:34 AM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 12/08/2009
Great sledding, tough fish'in. -15 deg. last night, some water still flowing. (12/08/2009 at 01:00 PM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 12/04/2009
Low and slow water, means you have to bring your "A game". The LT is beautiful. Think small and dark nymphs.
Useing 5x subsurface, or even 6x for a dry. 6+ inches on the ground and tee shirt weather mid-day. (12/04/2009 at 11:48 AM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 11/28/2009
Winter has arrived, 6-8 inches last night. Flows are low and slow but fish are still eating and if you dress for it, a fine day of fishing is likely.
Just be sneaky, (11/28/2009 at 10:32 AM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 11/21/2009
A fine day follows winter horror show!
Tee shirt day with fish rising to #22cream midges.
Slow water and light tippets are the call for dries. (11/21/2009 at 04:50 PM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 11/02/2009
The cool days and overcast are gone!
Very low, and clear water has made things a little bit tougher.
Light tippet and stealth is key. (11/02/2009 at 12:46 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 10/31/2009
Bright sun, very low flows, and super clear water make things challenging. Small bugs are called for and really good presentation. Stay Low, and sneeky! (10/31/2009 at 01:46 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 10/26/2009
It is soooo fine right now. I feel this won't last, so this is your fish alert! Beautiful colors, and flows, and fish. Get it while it's hot. (10/26/2009 at 03:16 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 10/22/2009
Flows dropped out of Boca. Water is clear and low.
Still great fishing, but it is time to get sneaky. Keeping a low profile on the water is a good idea, as well as using local cover( bushes, rocks etc).
Watch your shadow, and wade quietly.

(10/22/2009 at 01:48 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 10/19/2009
It is almost time to bring waders and boots in at night, frozen gear is no fun. Bring your foul weather clothes just in case.
Nice fish still moving, and a variety of techniques are working. (10/19/2009 at 03:00 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 10/13/2009
Cold rain has upped the flows and colored the river a bit.
Big fish are moving and feeding.
Bigger leaders are a good call, large streamers a good bet. (10/13/2009 at 05:50 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 10/05/2009
Snow arrived over the last couple of days. I think the browns key on the first taste of melt. It is time for Biggy Brown! (10/05/2009 at 05:36 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 10/02/2009
Lower canyon off color a bit.
Fish are still there though! (10/02/2009 at 06:24 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 09/30/2009
Low water in the upper canyon, purging releases from Boca, high winds and a trace of snow has made fishing a little bit problematic, yesterday.
Today, chillier but beautiful! (09/30/2009 at 06:53 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 09/24/2009
Releases from Boca jumped to 400+.
Use a thermometer, to find chilly H2O.

(09/24/2009 at 02:33 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 09/21/2009
Sweet time to hit the water!
Still takes a good drift for most fish, but they are feeding well now.
Keep moving, and cover water.
Look for spots that are ether tough to fish, or overlooked.
Use as small an indie as possible. Set often, be sneeky! (09/21/2009 at 02:46 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 09/19/2009
Better days are here!
Fishing is picking up,and with less pressure and cooler temps, some nice fish are out and around. (09/19/2009 at 01:30 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 09/02/2009
Cooler nights and days are here. The window for the evening hatch seems to be longer this week. Some dry action, but mostly just subsurface emergers. (09/02/2009 at 07:42 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 08/27/2009
Cooler nights, smoke on the water.
The begining of fall seems to be starting early. Saw an adult October Caddis yesterday. Sacrifised a pupa I found and it was going to pop very soon. Browns seem to be moving about more. Stay tuned! (08/27/2009 at 04:56 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 08/25/2009
Upper river flows lower and warm.
Lower river is cooler and fishing well. Early mornings are beautiful and some activity lasts until 10ish.
Have turned some large fish, but action is still in summer mode. (08/25/2009 at 05:42 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 08/12/2009
Warm days -cold nights sets the tone. Fishing is summer style.
the fish respond to the same stuff we do, fish the shade, fish deep, fish early. Then, take a siesta and come back for a small window at dusk. (08/12/2009 at 05:31 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 08/07/2009
Man, what a few days and a few clouds will do for the river!
Flows are nice, water temps have fallen, and a few less people, have made this week pretty sick.
Several very large fish on, and a few landed. One made me run 200+ yards.
Can be harder to resusitate them after such a run, giv'em the love! (08/07/2009 at 07:46 PM by bigfly)

4 - POOR on 07/31/2009
Temps. are way up. 63 at dawn 68 + at sun down, you can guess when to fish!
If you choose to fish the warmer water,be aware that at 68 it can take longer to resusitate the fish than the time you fought him. Give them a break and fish mornings if you can.
To help them recover faster hold them in a faster foamy current, lots more O2 there.
(07/31/2009 at 02:20 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 07/03/2009
Nearing peak season for the year I think. Beautiful flows, water temp.
Fair numbers of fish around, and feeding. Sight fishing is a great way to fish now. Fish edges near the shore with shade. (07/03/2009 at 05:41 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 06/18/2009
Fishing is getting better every day. Middays may get tougher, supposed to be clear and hot. (06/18/2009 at 08:04 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 06/16/2009

Mornings have been beautiful, Afternoons are cloudy and cool, but if you are lucky, a little warmth right at sunset provides a few green drakes.
Be there or be square!
(06/16/2009 at 06:30 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 06/10/2009
Cloudy cool has slowed things a bit.
Starting to see some evening risers and occasional mid-day activity.
PMDs are showing more in the PM.
No green drakes yet......... (06/10/2009 at 06:07 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 06/08/2009
Advantage goes to fishermen and women right now! Flows just off color and low enough to wade mid canyon.
Fishing should improve over this next month. Still very few risers, most fish eating emergers on the bottom or on the current edges. (06/08/2009 at 04:03 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 06/02/2009
Summer is suddenly here! There are grass hoppers, and large golden stones about. Get'em while their hot! (06/02/2009 at 01:16 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 05/26/2009
Flows improving and water clarity is good for fishing. Water temp. is still a little bit chilly, but will steadily improve. Few rises, but nymphing under an indicator can be productive. Fish softer seams, near fast riffles. (05/26/2009 at 05:10 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 05/22/2009
Water clarity is pretty good for these flows. Fish are spread out because of the volume. Cover lots of water to improve your luck! Fish soft seams adjacent to fast runs. Bumping larger bugs along the bottom is a good bet. Enjoy! (05/22/2009 at 02:00 PM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 05/19/2009
Truckee's running big.
Fish still have to eat, and the carpenter ants are flying.
Fish 'em dry to a rising fish or try one drowned. Most succsess under an indicator near the bottom. (05/19/2009 at 03:37 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 05/11/2009
Fishable flows and clarity, temps. rising.
Fish more active, and hungry.
(05/11/2009 at 07:10 PM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 05/04/2009
flows are up and fish are mostly near the bottom. Water temps are rising though, so.... try a stone nymph deep. Maybe try a stimmey dry. (05/04/2009 at 08:40 PM by bigfly)

3 - FAIR on 05/02/2009
Flows up,getting pushy to wade. Fishing mostly under indicator in deep slots. A mix of sz.20 cinnamon midges,18 blue wing olives, and sz.16 march brown. Find a riser fish a dry! (05/02/2009 at 03:31 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 04/27/2009
Beautiful water fows right now. Goes off color afternoons. Skwallas are pretty much gone. Fish softer seams and edges too. (04/27/2009 at 03:53 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 04/21/2009
Beautiful days on the water. Mornings are best, with skwallas still around.
fish them dry and drowned. Waiting patiently for flying ants - any day!
Water goes off color a bit in the afternoon. Fish are in the soft water and near banks. (04/21/2009 at 04:47 PM by bigfly)

2 - GOOD on 04/08/2009
Overcast conditions have slowed the melt, so water clarity is good. Skwallas take the colder days off, bwo's and a late march brown emergers are a good bet. (04/08/2009 at 04:25 PM by bigfly)

1 - EXCELLENT on 10/25/2007
Beatis hatches late morning and early afternoon are bringing fish to the top. Some light PMD hatches.   I would reccomend trailing a BWO 16 or 18, with an even smaller beatis nymph w/o a bead. (12/30/2008 at 05:08 PM by goatas17)
