Trip reports
1 - EXCELLENT on 08/23/2009
Good to excellent last week on small mayfly and trico dries and spinners. #16 and 18 redquill patterns work very well
(08/23/2009 at 10:59 PM by Redquill)

2 - GOOD on 04/18/2008
The North Platte is still frozen over but the tributaries to the Platte are open and fishing good. Fishing can be tough early in the day but if you wait for the water temps to come up the fish become very active. Fishing is best from noon to 5 pm using Copper Johns, Hares Ears, PH tails, Little Stones, and San Juans.

Fishing Report 4/8/08
Sorry to report but the Delaney lakes are still covered with 2 or more feet of Ice. Next Guess for Ice Off is April 23rd??????
Welcome Back!!! As of April 1st we are now open for the 2008 season. We will be open Tuesday through Sunday. Hours will be 7am-5pm Tuesday through Saturday and 7am-2pm on Sunday. Staring May 1st NPA will be open 7 days a week. Feel free to call us anytime for info.
The rivers in the valley have begun the thawing process with the Roaring Fork, North Fork, Illinois, and Michigan. The rivers are only open in areas where the sun gets much exposure. Public leases such as Manville and Murphy are fishable but won't be very productive until water temps come up. We usually see very sluggish fish in the rivers early with low ambition for chasing food. As water temps and water levels begin to rise the fish will become very aggressive and start feeding more regulary. We expect the tributaries to start fishing good within the next two weeks.
The Delaney Butte lakes are still frozen with 24 inches of ice. We expect them to begin receeding soon and should see some fishing opportunities starting in two weeks.
The North Platte our major waterway is still frozen and will not be fishable for two weeks or better.
We had a Great Winter in North Park with Snow pack levels through the roof. We expect to have an awesome water year. A great run-off should clean the river beds and make for awesome Summer and fall fishing. We expect the Float through the North Platte Wilderness to be excellent this year. We have added days to our permit and have some days available. Please call soon to book a Float.
Full Day Wilderness Float!!!!!!
We are done Floating this year. We will be starting a contact list for 2008 trips. The best times seem to be from May 15-June 15th, Sign up now to asure yourself a trip...
We have both Colorado 2008 and Wyoming Licenses 2008 coming soon availble in the Fly Shop. Wyoming has increased the daily fishing licenses for 2008 from $11 to $14 and the anual license is now $92 plus a $12.50 conservation stamp.
North Park Angler's Sportsman's Retreat (our guest rental property in Walden) is available. Don't feel like stetting up a tent? Want a hot shower after a long day hunting? Rather have a soft bed than a camp cot? Stay at the Retreat..... Call or e-mail for reservations and booking info. We can be reached at (970)-723-4215.
SAGEBRUSH LAKES
Delaney Buttes/ Lake John 2 More Weeks... (We Hope!!!)
We have had nothing but Snow and Cold for the past week. We still have 2 or more feet of ice on the Buttes. We are checking the lakes Daily and no signs of ice off yet. Next Guess April 23rd????
Frozen. 20+ inches of Ice. Our ice fishing friends recomend Castmasters, tube jigs( brown or rootbeer) and crawfish paterns.
If you choose to venture out on frozen lakes, you do so at your own risk.
NORTH PLATTE
Frozen over.
NORTH PARK MEADOW STREAMS
The Smaller Tribs are starting to open. The Roaring Fork, North Fork, Michigan, and Illinois are all showing signs of open water. We expect fishing to be slow until water temps and levels increase. The fish will be slendor and sluggish until they begin to feed more regular. The early spring is a great time to catch bigger fish being stupid, being under the ice for 5 months the fish will not be too selective. Best patterns will be:
#16 Copper Johns
#12 Black Leeches
#14 Pheasant Tails
#12 Scuds in Olive and tan
#4 Olive, Black, White Streamers
Fish all patterns on either a dead drift or by stripping them down stream. Remeber the fish will hide under cut banks on sunny days waiting to ambush food so never under estimate throwing close to the shores.
HEADWATER STREAMS & HIGH LAKES
Frozen over.

Descriptions
1. The North Platte River is located just outside Walden. As it travels
northward, the river descends though Northgate Canyon just before it flows
into Wyoming. The fly angler can expect rainbows and browns in the pocket
water and riffles. Surface action is superb.
