(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by bigerrfish)
"Just at home no fly fishing till next year.Water is out of the banks today suck's"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by Patrick38)
"dont know what your comment means but keep fishing for the big ones and keep what you want."
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by bigerrfish)

(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by Patrick38)
"do you have trout where you live?"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by bigerrfish)
"As a bass fly fisherman, how is the dragon fly action..any still around?"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by flycastinginstructor)
"Trying to catch some fish in this cold wather.Carp are feeding.Dont know on what tryed a leach today and a dry fly nothing so if you have any suggestion on a fly let me know thanks"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by Patrick38)
"Thanks....I am still catching catfish and enjoying it...they seem to hit only when they are either on the prowl at nite or guarding the nest (the males)..but not when they are courting...what has been your experience?"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by flycastinginstructor)
"Hey Patrick; Thanks for rating my catfish...I enjoy catching them when they are in post-spawn guarding the nest (the male) seems super aggressive....they seem to spawn several times a year...what is it like in ILL for cats on a fly?"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by flycastinginstructor)
"yeah there are a lot of snobs in this awesome sport. i think some people get to concerned about what gear they have or how they look and loose focus on the many reasons that we fly fish."
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by mattyp)
"thanks for the comment and the rating. that was the last fish of just a unreal day in alaska"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by mattyp)
"I have been tieing some foam-backed humpys, and some inch-and-a-half worms. Can't wait tell next year's fly fishing season.green river smallmouth can't wait"

"hey patrick, check out the largemouth pic i posted"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by mattyp)
"yeah it was on a flyrod. i had a 1x 7.5' tapered leader on with a black and red deer hair popper. the state record at the time was 8 pounds 14 ounces. the old digital berkley scale we had read somewhere around 8 pounds ten ounces. i didnt measure how long he was though. we ended up letting him go because the fish from that lake taste like shit and i just wasn't sure he would be the new record. would have been a nice mounter anyway"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by mattyp)
"catching tarpon with a fly rod is the most incredible fishing i know... the largest fish i have ever caught with flies have been bull and lemon sharks, sometimes weighing 200lbs or more. in the keys sharks seem to be one of the easiest fish to catch with a fly rod because they are always hungry."
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by Capt. Matt )
"i hope you get to realize your dream patrick! i would help you if i could..."
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by Capt. Matt )
"Hey Patrick. Things been great just been on the water a bit. My favorite topwater bass bug is Steeve's Mega Bug. It is am annual cicada pattern tied with Loco foam...check it out
/tiebetter/locofoam/pic.php?img=Mega-Bug-1.jpg&caption=Mega+Bug&caller=index"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by whitetop_laurel)
"Patrick. You asked for a fly suggestion for rainbow trout in a cloudy lake. I would try a #10 sparkle bugger. "
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by Wapiti)
"Patrick. You asked for a fly suggestion for rainbow trout in a cloudy lake. I would try a #10 sparkle bugger. Take care, Jack Mauer in Montana"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by Wapiti)
"i believe that carp will eat most flies if they have the chance... i don't know which carp video you commented on, but i am sure i used some nymph that looks like a mayfly, stonefly, or tiny crawdad. get the fly in their face and they will eat it! (my youtube account has a handful of carp videos, look up "mtbpt" and you can see them all.)"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by Capt. Matt )
"um, the best i can think of would be a hexagenia (hex) pattern, but idk if you have them in illinois...why?"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by TroutSlayer1)
"no problem man...if you want some good smallie patterns i got some that are killers, have you ever fished tube flies?"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by TroutSlayer1)
", , you can just get other sites from googling tube flies, but those are my favorite sites, also check back with my site in the next week or so and i will have a tube fly tying video, "
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by TroutSlayer1)
"Hi Patrick,
You asked me a question about mayfly patterns for smallmouth bass. I keep it pretty simple myself. The two go to patterns I use a Klinkhammer as an emerger and lately have been using a Sparkle Dun as an easy to tie dry imitation. I can send you a couple links to patterns if you are interested but both are pretty easy to find on the internet.

Good luck,

Dennis (northernfly)"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by northernfly)
"Patrick I would like to get in contact with you about some fly fishing on the creek"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by BEgan)
"for smallies? i would probably go with something small and dark, since they are being sluggish. somethin like a picket pin, small woolly bugger, or dark clouser. fished slow and steady"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by TroutSlayer1)
"i would say no, but see how it goes with both. i would fish them like streamers/sculpin, but not too fast "
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by TroutSlayer1)
"yep np man. tight lines and screamin drags!"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by TroutSlayer1)
"Possibly starting a wading guide servis. Was wounding what the fly fisherman in Il think.I am in the process of making fliers and packets. It will be on City county to Red covered brige, Green river, and some privet spots.Flies will be provided.Wouled like feed back thanks. <*///><"
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by Patrick38)
"Hi everyone, I was seriously thinking about starting a Fishing guide service for Bureau County. I've called some places to get the information I need. I'd just like to know if anyone would be interested in this? Cause I dont wanna go thru the time and trouble of preparing papers and buying the things I need if I wont get any interested customers. Please let me know what you think and if you have any ideas. What I plan on doing (as soon as the snow is gone)is take pictures of all the area (public) Locks,Creeks and Ponds and add them to papers of info on what the stream is like, how deep, where its location is, what kinda of fish are in the area, etc. and take you wadding to the area you choose from the info papers I will make. I have flies I've made myself for sale in many different sizes, colors and styles. Days of the week, amount of hours and prices will be determined at a later time.
So If your an out of state/county fisherman and wanna try out Bureau County,Illinois waters please let me know."
(04/25/2010 at 02:21 PM by Patrick38)
"Patrick,,the stocked fish will eat things like the horse fly, but try to stay to bugs that there is more of, maybe like green drakes and blue wing olives. nice crawdad!!"
