The Grand river in the Grand Rapids area is running cold and slushy.....kind of like a slurpee from 7-11 ! However, during limited stretches of reduced ice/slush flow, steelhead are being caught near the 6th St. fish ladder in downtown GR. Simply put, we need a break in cold temps to let this big river run free of floating ice for a day or so before steelheading will pick up.
