East Carson River fishing report â Currently flowing at 160cfs. Above Hangmanâs Bridge - Closed till last Sat in April. Catch and release section below Hangmanâs Bridge Nice weather in the area right now but the East Carson tends to fish tough throughout the winter months. Nymphing with small baetis and midge patterns is the best bet during this time of year. Try nymphing the slow tailouts and deeper pools with wd-40â²s, zebra midges, rainbow warriors and baetis patterns. For dries try size 18-20 blue duns and size 20-22 black cripples. Nymphs- Foxâs poopah tan 16-18, size 18 Z-wing caddis, micro mayflyâs black and olive 16-18, pheasant tails 16-18, zebra midges 18-20, Wierâs sprinkles vanilla and chocolate 18-20. Streamers-buggers in olive in black, woolhead sculpins, crystal buggers, meat whistle olive and black. Dries-October caddis 8-10, yellow and orange stimulators 8-12, ec caddis 18-20, tan elk hair caddis 16-18, parachute adams 16-24, hackle stacker bwoâs 16-18, trico spinners 18-20, black cripples size 20, Wierâs hopper, ants and beetles.
