Report details
We've been chasing fall run king salmon around on the Pere Marquette recently and for the last few days, it has been rather slow. Water had dropped and been clearing up until the heavy rains that his that region this past weekend. Many salmon are staging in the port lakes of the Manistee and Pere Marquette rivers.
Destination flow:
Presently @ 396 cfs, normal flow in the 490 cfs range
Destination hatches:
none
Water clarity:
Good
Water temp:
mid 60's
Flies:
Large, gaudy streamers like those one would throw for Pike or Muskie.
Additional comments:
Flies have been getting some attention, but plugs and spinners are getting more looks than flies right now. This is normal for these kings, the vibration in the action of lures gets their attention more quickly than a fly.
