Latest trip report: Conejos River
2 - GOOD on 08/28/2008
The river is still running high for this time of year. So nymph fishing is the most productive. Dry fly action is sporadic at best. In 4 days, I caught 1 fish on a dry fly. I caught many on the dropper under a dry, but most on a dual nymph rig. Large, heavy stonefly nymphs with a small mayfly, caddis, or midge trailer is the best combination.

The Conejos flows through a beautiful canyon with a pine mountain setting.
Recent habitat improvements and designation of many sections as Wild Trout
Waters have improved the fishery. The fly angler can expect browns,
rainbows, cutts, and brookies.
